East Lancashire to host a national NHS programme for AI scribing
Trusts can apply for a fully funded six-month CLEARnotes deployment in up to three services.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is hosting a programme to deploy CLEARnotes, an ambient voice technology, across NHS trusts in England through the National CLEAR Programme it already runs.
Acute, community and mental health trusts can submit expressions of interest for a fully funded six-month deployment in up to three services, with onboarding planned from May 2026. ELHT provides governance, safety and evaluation; the deployments happen inside each participating trust. Any future payment would be linked to demonstrated impact.
ELHT reports a 14% productivity improvement in its nurse-led pre-operative department since deploying CLEARnotes, and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust reports a 25% increase within a pre-operative clinic since its pilot began in March 2025.
