Wales opens a £10m framework for ambient voice technology
NHS Wales will hold a pre-qualified list of AI scribe suppliers from December 2026.

Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is launching an open framework agreement worth £10 million for ambient voice technology, the AI tools that capture clinician-patient conversations and turn them into structured notes.
The framework will keep a pre-qualified list of suppliers that Welsh health bodies can buy from. It runs from 7 December 2026 to 6 December 2029, with a possible five-year extension. Supplier submissions closed on 16 September 2026, with decisions expected by 30 November 2026.
The move follows the UK push to cut clinicians' administrative work, while concerns about the accuracy of AI-generated records continue to be raised.
